Worduel friend rooms let two people solve one five-letter word on a shared board. Here’s how to join, use each other’s clues, take turns, and choose between a live room and solo practice
Play together from different phones
To play Worduel with a friend, start a friend room and share its four-letter code or link. Your friend opens it on their phone, and you both play the same puzzle on one shared board. You take turns guessing the five-letter secret word; the first person to solve it wins. A turn lasts 45 seconds, so have the room ready before you start
Set up your friend game
Open a friend room
Choose a friend game in Worduel to create or enter a room
Share the invite
Send your friend the room’s four-letter code or link so they can join from their own phone
Take the first turn
Once you are both in, make a guess and read the feedback together. The board and secret word are shared
One guess gives both players a clue
Because you share a board, a guess is useful to both people, even if the person who entered it does not solve the puzzle. In the example below, each row shows a guess and its feedback. ✓ means the letter is in the right place, ↔ means it is in the word but elsewhere, and × means there is no unused copy of that letter in the secret
A shared board, step by step
That feedback narrows the next move for both players. After brand scores ×✓✓✓×, you know r, a and n fit in positions two, three and four. Then crane scores ✓✓✓✓×, confirming c, r, a and n in the first four positions. Only the last letter remains to solve. Your friend can build on the same clues instead of starting a separate puzzle
Turns, skips, and winning
Keep the round moving
- Each player gets 45 seconds for a turn
- You can skip up to three turns; the fourth skip loses the game
- The first player to solve the secret wins
- There is no in-game chat, so agree on a separate way to talk if you want to discuss guesses while playing
Live room or solo practice?
Friend room
Play one shared puzzle with a real person. Take alternate turns, use the same clues, and see who solves the word first. Friend games do not change your Elo rating, and room scores carry over into a series
Solo practice
Play on your own with six guesses and unlimited puzzles. A win gives you a new word; after a loss, you can retry the same word. Choose solo when you want to practise at your own pace rather than compete over turns
Make each turn count
Before entering a guess, look at the whole board rather than only the latest row. Keep letters confirmed in the right places, and use the other feedback to narrow what could fit. If you and your friend are discussing the puzzle outside the game, say what the clue rules out as well as what it confirms. That gives the next player a clear starting point
In the guess brand, what does the score ×✓✓✓× tell you?
Reveal answer
Option 1 is correct: ×✓✓✓× marks r, a and n as correct in their positions, while the × marks for b and d mean there is no unused copy of those letters in the secret
Rematch or switch to solo
When a friend game ends, you can continue the series with a rematch. The series score is kept, and the first player alternates on rematches, giving the other person the opening turn. If you want another puzzle without a shared turn clock, solo mode offers unlimited practice instead
