# 70 Wordle Alternatives for When One Word a Day Isn’t Enough 70 games to try when the daily Wordle is over: several boards at once, twisted rules, duels against other players, math, geography and more, all but our own opened and checked on October 17, 2026 Wordle gives you one word a day, and then you wait. This list gathers 70 other games, all free to play at least in part: our own Worduel, WorDungeon, Transwordle and Wordle Blast first, then multi-board games, rule twists, duels against other players, guessing by meaning and daily puzzles on other subjects. Every game but our own was opened and checked on October 17, 2026 The official Wordle is a small daily ritual: six tries, one five-letter word, and then you wait until tomorrow. That is part of the charm, but sooner or later many people want another round, a harder board, a rival to play against, or the same idea built around something other than words This list is for that moment. On October 17, 2026 we opened and checked every game here except our own, and each one can be played for free at least in part: some are fully free, some show ads, some sell an upgrade or a subscription. The first four entries are our own games, Worduel, WorDungeon, Transwordle and Wordle Blast, and we say so up front. After them the list runs from the games closest to Wordle to the ones that only borrow its idea, and a short table near the end helps you pick quickly One thing, said once: Worduel is independent and has no connection with The New York Times. Wordle is their game and their trademark ## Our four games ### Worduel, WorDungeon, Transwordle and Wordle Blast 1. [Worduel](https://worduel.gg/?wl=en): A Wordle-style duel: you and a rival take turns guessing the same hidden word of 4 to 6 letters on one shared board, with 45 seconds a move. Play ranked against a rival with a similar rating (everyone starts at 500), open a room with a friend using a four-letter code, or go solo with no daily limit. The site has no ads and needs no account, it plays in 13 word languages, and there are apps for iPhone and Android 2. [WorDungeon](https://wordungeon.com): Our second game, from the same makers: Wordle as a dungeon crawl, played solo. Every floor is a boss with a hidden English word and its own twist, such as two or four words at once, a clock, or clues that lie or hide in fog. You start with 3 lives, pick 1 of 3 relics after each win and face 200 bosses, with a leaderboard for the deepest floor and the highest score. It is free in the browser and on iPhone, and the game itself speaks your language 3. [Transwordle](https://transwordle.com/): Our third game, from the same makers: Wordle where the word runs away. After every miss the hidden five-letter English word is swapped for a new one, earlier rows and the keyboard are recolored for it, and tiles that moved closer or further away are marked. Guess the current word and you win. Play solo with 10 tries and as many games as you like, ranked 1v1 against a rival of similar rating on one shared board (45 seconds a turn, unlimited guesses, first to guess wins), or open a friend room with a four-letter code or a link. Free in the browser with no account, English words, interface in 100 languages 4. [Wordle Blast](https://wordleblast.com/): Our fourth game, from the same makers: Wordle in a Tetris-style stack. Blocks of five cells open from the bottom up, each with a random English word and clues to the hidden word. Guess it before the stack fills up, and the blocks still closed blow up into points, with 20 seconds per block. A run works like a roguelike: 3 lives, words from easy to hard, and 1 perk out of 3 after every win. Free in the browser with no account or app, English words, interface in 100 languages ## Several boards at once If one board feels too easy, play several at once. Every guess you type goes to all of them, so you have to pick words that work for the whole set ### Multi-board Wordle 5. [Dordle](https://zaratustra.itch.io/dordle): Two Wordle boards at once: every guess goes to both words. A new Dordle comes out each day, and you can play as many extra games as you like. It runs in the browser on itch.io, is free, in English, and is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 344 people there 6. [Quordle](https://www.merriam-webster.com/games/quordle/): Four five-letter words at once, with nine tries for all four. A new puzzle comes out every day, and the game now lives on the Merriam-Webster dictionary site 7. [Octordle](https://www.merriam-webster.com/games/octordle/): Eight words at once. Like Quordle it now lives on the Merriam-Webster site, with a new puzzle every day 8. [Sedecordle](https://sedecordle.com/): Sixteen boards and 21 guesses: each word you enter goes to all sixteen. There is a daily puzzle and unlimited free ones, with modes such as Sedec-order (only one unsolved word visible at a time), Savior (the first four words are chosen for you) and Variations (words from 4 to 11 letters). It calls itself the original Sedecordle, is free with ads, and is in English 9. [Duotrigordle](https://duotrigordle.com/): Thirty-two boards with 37 guesses, each guess entered on every board. There is a new one every day plus a practice mode, with variants such as Daily Sequence, Daily Jumble and Daily Crosswordle, and a Perfect Challenge: all 32 words in exactly 32 guesses. It has global and private leaderboards, is free with ads (you can hide them by supporting the author), and is in English ## Wordle with different rules These keep the grid and the colors but change what the colors tell you, or what the answer can be ### Same idea, other rules 10. [Absurdle](https://qntm.org/files/absurdle/absurdle.html): An adversarial Wordle: with each guess it reveals as little as it can and will change the secret word if it needs to. The rules are Wordle’s except that your guesses are unlimited, and the best possible score is 4. It is a single web page by qntm with no ads and no account, in English 11. [Fibble](https://fibble.xyz/): Wordle where one tile in every row lies to you, in the same positions for everyone. You can flag tiles you suspect and mark the ones you know are true. It has daily and unlimited modes, is free, and is in English 12. [Xordle](https://xordle.org/): Two secret words on one board, and the two words share no letters. It has daily and unlimited modes, a Create button for making your own puzzle, a gallery and stats. Free, in English 13. [Woodle](https://play.woodle.today/): Wordle meets Mastermind: the game only tells you how many letters are in the right place and how many are in the wrong place, not which ones. You can tap letters in your guess history to mark them yourself. A new puzzle every day, free with ads, in English 14. [Hello Wordl](https://hellowordl.net/): An open remake of Wordle with six tries and Mastermind-style feedback. You can set the difficulty, switch to a dark theme or high contrast, pick a keyboard layout (QWERTY, AZERTY, QWERTZ, Dvorak or Colemak) and share a specific game by link. According to its page it is free and ad-free forever, and it is in English 15. [Phrazle](https://solitaired.com/phrazle/): You guess a missing phrase instead of a word. Besides green, orange and gray, a purple letter means it appears in another word of the phrase. There are daily and practice modes and 4, 5 and 6 letter versions. Free, in English, hosted on Solitaired 16. [Betweenle](https://betweenle.com/): You guess the secret word that sits alphabetically between other words, with up to 12 guesses. There is a new puzzle every day, you can create custom words and share them with friends, and apps for Android and iOS add an unlimited mode. Free, in English ## Word puzzles in other shapes ### Swapping, grids and ladders 17. [Waffle](https://wafflegame.net/): Not guessing but swapping: you rearrange letters in a waffle-shaped grid to fix six crossing words, starting with 15 swaps. [Squareword](https://squareword.org/): A word game in two dimensions: you uncover a 5x5 grid where every row and every column is a five-letter word, using as few guesses as you can. A new puzzle comes out every day. Free with ads, in English 19. [Smartle](https://smartle.net/): You swap letters on a 5x5 grid until they form five valid words. There is a daily puzzle, Sprint and Archive, no account is needed to start, and the site links to iOS and Android apps. Free with ads, in English 20. [Crosswordle](https://crosswordle.com/): Daily crossword logic puzzles for Wordle fans: you swap letters horizontally and vertically until every tile turns green. Green letters are in the right place and can’t be swapped, yellow ones belong to the right word but another position, gray ones belong to a different word. You earn a star for each swap left over. Free with ads, in English 21. [Weaver](https://wordwormdormdork.com/): A word ladder: you change one word into another, one step at a time. The site, Weaver Games, also has Weaver X (add, remove or change a letter) and Subtext (find the words hiding inside), with three fresh puzzles every day. Free with ads, in English 22. [Raddle](https://raddle.quest/): A word transformation ladder: you solve clues to get from one word to another, for example by adding a letter to the front to make a household tool or by anagramming the word. A tutorial teaches the game and sign-up is optional. By Sandy Weisz, part of The Mystery League; free, in English 23. [Squaredle](https://squaredle.app/): A daily word-search style game: you swipe through a letter grid to find as many words as you can and climb the leaderboards. The word list shows what you have found and what is still missing. The web version has ads, and it is in English ## The Wordle idea with other subjects The scheme is familiar: a few tries, a hint after every guess, one puzzle a day. What changes is what you are guessing: an equation, a country, a film, a song ### Numbers instead of letters 24. [Nerdle](https://nerdlegame.com/): Wordle with math: you guess a hidden eight-character calculation such as 3*4+5=17 in six tries.
